Children's ministrIES

The Children’s Ministry at Fairfield UMC is as active as the children we serve!  We believe as Jesus said in Matthew 19:14, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

During the 11:00am Sunday morning service, we offer Children’s Church for children ages 3–6.  A nursery is served by a regular staff member supported by volunteers in compliance with Safe Sanctuary guidelines.  Our nursery is available during the 8:45am and 11:00am services, for children ranging from infants to 2 years old.

Outside of Sunday morning, we offer the Sonshine Gang for children ages 4 years to 2nd grade.  This group meets weekly, engaging in outreach to the homebound and other community projects, as well as Sunday morning worship, and field trips.  The Seekers group is for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders with a bible based focus on discipleship.

Special events and services are always great ways to learn and worship!  Each Spring, the children lead a combined worship service for our Children’s Sabbath.  The children work with our pastor to learn about the aspects of worship and the meanings of each in order to plan and lead this special service.  Our Vacation Bible School, held in July, is the only VBS in the area held for a full week and which offers activities for children ages 2 years through 8th grade.  This is always a great week of fun, fellowship, and worship for the children (and the adults enjoy it too!)  In addition to VBS, our Easter Egg Hunt and Trunk or Treat are also great community events, which are safe and family friendly.  Christmas is certainly a magical time as we prepare ourselves for Jesus’ birth with our Advent Festival, Children’s Christmas Program, and Christmas Caroling to the homebound.   In an effort to expand our outreach, we have recently added Valentine’s Day and other holidays to our caroling roster.  Our Children’s Ministry strives to create entertaining and engaging opportunities where our children will grow in discipleship and Christ’s love.
