Fairfield's Golden Adventurers provide a ministry for the senior members of our congregation and community. Meeting on the first Tuesday of every month, they promote fellowship, education and service.
Each meeting has a special program, theme or outing as its central purpose. The "Golden Oldies," as they call themselves, have traveled to Jugtown, to watch pottery being thrown as well as to shop, Duke Chapel (even though staunch UNC supporter C.A. Thomas broke out in a rash once he set foot on the campus) and numerous "Mayberry" trips to Mt. Airy. Their programs have been on subjects of health, security issues and other topics relevant to their group.
Their meetings and outings are not limited to just members of our congregation. Members of the community are invited to attend and join in on the fun. Doreen says that the minimum age is Fifty Five (or less if you want to attend). This active group of seniors welcomes diverse opinions and ideas! The more, the merrier!
